Our History
TANS
Tamil Nadu Association of Neurological Surgeons [TANS] evolved in 2017 from Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Association of Neurological Surgeons [TANPANS]. At the annual NSI conference held in Chennai in 2016 a few Neurosurgeons of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry decided to start an Association for Neurosurgeons of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry. They selected Dr.J.K.B.C.Parthiban as President, Dr.J.Srisaravanan as Secretary, Dr.M.Vikram as Treasurer and Dr.V.R.Roopesh Kumar as Joint-Secretary. Subsequently in 2017, as it was not possible then to register with the names of two states, the name was changed to Tamil Nadu Association of Neurological Surgeons [TANS], with Neurosurgeons of both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry eligible to become members of TANS. From 2019 elections were conducted for the posts of President, Secretary, Treasurer and Joint-Secretary.
“TANS is registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975. SLNo.:294/2017”

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I welcome you all to the Tamil Nadu Association of Neurological Surgeon’s [TANS] 6th annual event, TANS 2025. In this event, we celebrate not only our collective achievements in the field of neurosurgery but also the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and excellence that defines our society.
This year July 2024, our focus for Educational course is on the White Fibre Dissection Workshop, a crucial aspect of neurosurgery that demands precision and expertise. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed Course Directors, Dr. Abidha Shah and Dr. Gireesh Menon, for their invaluable contribution in organizing this workshop. Their dedication and commitment to advancing neurosurgical education are commendable.
Throughout this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage in mock clinical examinations, witness demonstrations of neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge technology, and benefit from lectures designed to enhance effective neurosurgical practice. In an ever-evolving field like neurosurgery, continuous learning and skill enhancement are paramount. The White Fibre Dissection Workshop provides a platform for us to deepen our understanding, refine our techniques, and foster collaboration among peers.
